Every superior project contains project roles that help with team success, and ultimately project success. The Project Team course covers the development and maintenance of an effective project team, including team building and project roles. A project team is a group of individuals working interdependently to accomplish the project objective. The level of effectiveness of the project team can make the difference between project success and project failure.
Concepts in this course support the following Project Management Knowledge Areas of the PMI Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide):

Module and Content:
Students will view a video that explains techniques for building a project team and explores team dynamics. They will also watch a Capstone video and take an assessment to check their understanding of the concepts.
- Describe project team development, a four-stage process intended to build effective teams.
- Identify potential conflicts on projects, whether they have their source in project scope, scheduling, or personal differences.
- Apply problem solving processes, an essential function of a project team.
- Implement time management using a variety of strategies that might include making effective use of waiting time and controlling interruptions.

Meet the instructor
Jennifer Chandler, Ph.D.
Jennifer L. S. Chandler, Ph.D. is a Lecturer at Arizona State University who teaches in the Organizational Leadership Program in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. Before joining ASU, she led projects, taught project management, trained project managers, and evaluated Project Management Programs for over 20 years working with international corporations, federal agencies, and national professional associations. She currently researches leadership practices among scientist and engineering teams who tackle global sustainability challenges.
