What you'll learn:

This seven-day career acceleration course is for students, alums or anyone pursuing careers in the entertainment business and includes:

WELCOME TO CAMP ORIENTATION AND LUNCH.

Workshop: 12 ANGRY MEN RE-IMAGINED

Students work with Hollywood professionals and ASU alums as participants exploring a modern version of this classic film reimagined with a gender balanced cast.

Module 1: THE BUSINESS OF YOU

Students learn how to land that job by developing effective “living” bios and resumes, and, most importantly, a compelling personal story that illustrates why they'll make the perfect employee. Students put it all into practice in "mock-interviews" with industry professionals. Taught by Emmy nominated Writer/Producer and ASU alum, Howard Burkons.

Wednesday, May 23 & Thursday, May 24 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

Module 2: CATCHING & PITCHING

Rookie creatives and executives learn the art of listening, pitching and persuading, and then test their newly acquired skills in "mock-pitch sessions" with working Hollywood prosfessionals. Taught by Writer/Professor, Warren Lewis.

Friday, May 25 & Saturday, May 26 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

Module 3: NETWORKING & THE TRADES

Students learn how to find and nurture meaningful, long lasting professional relationships and how to track and capitalize on trends in film, TV and new media found in the “trades” (i.e. industry news publications) for the purpose a creating a fruitful network and professional opportunities. Taught by Feature Film Producer and ASU alum, Susan Cartsonis.

Additionally, each instructor will bring guest industry professionals to their module to further this enriching experience. And on Saturday, May 26, Boot Camp ends with a Hollywood Sun Devil Mixer in which you will mingle with ASU alums as well as industry pros, putting what you’ve learned to good use!

  • Dr. Roseanne Welch – Writer, producer and professor,credits including: (Beverly Hills 90210, Picket Fences, Touched by an Angel, ABC NEWS/Nightline)
  • Brent Emery – Sundance Award-Winning Producer who has worked extensively as an independent film finance, sales and production specialist
  • Jane Moran – Award-winning Australian Editor and member of the American Editing Guild

    Howard Burkons

    Howard Burkons is a writer and producer known for John Q (2002), the Emmy, SAG, WGA, DGA, ACE, CSA and Golden Globe nominated Ron Clark Story (2006) and Smooch (2011). Howard holds a BFA in Directing/Theater from Arizona State University. Specialties include: Screenwriting, producing, mentoring.
