Word Up! Words Matter Workshop

The Center for Primary Care of Harvard Medical School recently announced a new and bothersome social virus: “A Second, Silent Pandemic: Sexual Violence in the time of Covid-19.” In order to get our hearts and minds around the issue, the Word Up! Words Matter workshop will engage Edson students in an innovative workshop experience that will involve the writing of public health-related PSA announcements that will address how to recognize at-risk behaviors on campus and include evidence-based research information on avoidance of campus-based sexual violence affecting both male and female victims. The workshops will involve an open-discussion format where students in “pods” will develop their PSA’s. Health care experts from Banner Hospital, as well as assault survivors, will be invited to present during the workshops. At the workshops’ end, students will vote on the best PSA’s to be announced through social media.
