What you'll learn:

In this course, you’ll explore how to systematically solve problems that arise in the workplace and in everyday life. Solving problems correctly and efficiently means having a well calculated approach with steps that most people don’t often take. If you are regularly tasked with solving problems in the workplace and working out problems in other areas of your life, then this course is for you. You will learn the proper steps and techniques in systematically solving problems.


Module and Content:

Students will immerse themselves in a real-world case where they practice applying their skills. For example, students will take on the role of an assistant to the vice president of finance at a travel company that’s been losing tour business. Students will also watch videos including “Good Job or Bad Job?” to identify problems and explore the causes and related issues.

Meet the instructor


Janice Lawhorn, PhD

Dr. Janice A. Lawhorn holds Master’s Degrees in Computer Information Systems and Elementary Education and a Ph.D. in Education Technology Management. She is an Associate Faculty in the leadership and interdisciplinary studies department at Arizona State University. Dr. Lawhorn is also the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, Arizona. Her passion is teaching business and computer courses.
