What you'll learn:

This 2-day Purple Team Competition event focuses on real-world application and testing of offensive and defensive teaming skills to complement cyber capabilities.

Beginners to cybersecurity are welcome! This event will include one day of training prior to the competition including topics such as active/passive reconnaissance tools, networking and services, Kali Linux, and penetration testing, followed by one day of competition in teams of four. Prizes include $250 gift cards for each first place team member and $150 gift cards for each second place team member.

What you'll do:

The competition will assess both red teaming and blue teaming skills, having a more direct parallel to real-world applications used in business operations of enterprise-grade networks. Each team will be assigned a set of business tasks selected from day-to-day operations typically performed in an SOC. The teams will be required to maintain critical live business services and submit a report on any security incidents, while simultaneously trying to hack/exploit services of other teams. Teams will earn points from:

  • Completing assigned business tasks.
  • Maintaining critical business services throughout the competition.
  • Submitting incident reports based on security breach by other teams and providing remediation.
  • Hacking/exploiting the services of other team and submitting a penetration testing report.
