Full course description
What you'll learn:
We will study oscillations of spring-mass systems, wave and pulse properties, waves on a string or spring, sound, waves in two dimensions. ASU has good equipment that we will use for some labs. Some equipment will be home-made and low-tech. We will talk about low-tech substitutions when we do labs with expensive equipment. We will practice model-centered discourse, peer interaction, and collaboration.

Prerequisite:
A three-week Modeling Workshop in mechanics.
Materials Checklist:
No textbook; we will use a manual of teacher-developed course materials. Non-Arizona teachers should bring a quad-ruled computation notebook (8.5" x 11" and a 3-ring binder (1" wide is sufficient).
