Sexual Violence Prevention Leadership Program
The Sexual Violence Prevention Leadership Program is a six-week program for emerging student leaders who are looking to develop leadership skills. Participants will meet once a week for facilitated discussion and education topics pertaining to sexual violence prevention including, but not limited to: the continuum of sexual violence, bystander intervention, healthy relationships, rape culture, consent, healthy sexuality, survivor support, and community resources. The purpose of this program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to identify and address rape-supportive norms, attitudes, and behaviors and mobilize social change in regard to sexual violence within their communities. The last session will end in action planning designed to impact their community. Participants who choose to stay engaged following innovation quarter will be part of a leadership cohort that plans and implements an innovative sexual assault prevention program during the month of April. This program is guided by research and developed using community-change theories. It is also an opportunity to develop professional skills that can be applied to future internships and careers.
