Inspiring Students to Self-Engage through Teaching Activities

As instructors, we are encouraged to make our classes more engaging and active for our students, to enact student-centered learning. However, after students finish class for the day, they may be left wondering “how can I study for my exams in an enjoyable manner like my class did?”. Active-learning shouldn’t stop at the classroom door, but follow the student to their bedroom desks. Let’s collaborate and collect the different active-learning techniques we, as teachers, have implemented in our classrooms and make the tools available to the students, so they can reuse the material on their own and engage themselves in their own learning.

This session will... provide examples of active-learning techniques and programs I have used for students to engage their learning or studying, demonstrate ways it can be redistributed for students to use individually or in a study group, administer a collaborative session for instructors to share their ideas and materials then collect them to distribute out for others to use.

This session is open to all, but may be of particular interest to educators.
